El Cerrito Recycling and Environmental Resource Center Net Zero
[Go Back]
The new El Cerrito Recycling and Environmental Resource Center will replace the existing center on the same 1.93-acre site at 7501 Schmidt Lane, and provide a high-performing, highly sustainable, and attractive facility that supports waste reduction, reuse, recycling, climate protection and pollution prevention goals for the City. The Center will support the City’s curbside recycling operations, community drop-off of other recyclables, and other environmental programs.
The Design/Build Entity is required to deliver a project LEED-Certified (minimum level Gold) by the United States Green Building Council. Beyond LEED Certification the Design/Build Entity will deliver a project that exemplifies the City’s long-standing commitment to environmental protection and a concern for sustainability, and that:
• Highlights innovative material re-use
• Provides flexibility for the future
• Inspires residents to recycle and re-use
• Encourages residential Green Building
• Incorporates the Center’s operations into its design
• Provides an optimum educational opportunity
• Incorporates a holistic approach to sustainability
EBS is working with the team led by Pankow Builders to Commission this project. Our responsibilities include performing design reviews, documenting the Owner’s Project Requirements (OPR), reviewing the Basis of Design (BOD), performing all pre-functional & functional testing, as well as assisting with the closeout procedures.
